The push for ARM is expected to achieve traction this season, and Lenovo wants to be among the first companies bringing new devices running on ARM power.
Today, laptop computer maker announced the new IdeaPad 5G, a clamshell laptop joining the company's mid-range number of products however this time with 5G capabilities.
The IdeaPad 5G is powered by the 2018 Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor, so it's not exactly the latest-generation chip, although it should still be in a position to provide good performance and life of the battery anyway.
Laptops sports a 14-inch FHD display having a 90 % screen to body ratio, and also the chip is paired with 7GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. It provides a fanless design along with a 51 WHr battery supposed to provide as much as 20 hours per charge.
"Offering as much as 20 hours of life of the battery of continuous video playback, you'll stay entertained watching videos on your sofa all day long about this 14-inch clamshell laptop with available lightning-fast 5G speeds (supports sub-6 GHz), reliable 4G LTE, plus strong Wi-Fi 55 connectivity," Lenovo explains.
Not heading to the U.S.
"This practical yet sleek device makes it easier for multitaskers to stay connected at home or on the run by combining what you love regarding your smartphone, (it even includes a SIM card holder!) like instant on responsive performance, with the efficiency of a thin and lightweight fan-less laptop with Windows 10. Where 5G is unavailable, you'll enjoy more security and dependability via 4G LTE connectivity, which will come default on the new IdeaPad 5G laptop."
In addition, the organization is also introducing a Lenovo IdeaPad 4G/LTE, which this time around comes with a Snapdragon 8c chip. This version ships with 512GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM.
The 5G laptop doesn't have a release date and value tag right now, but Lenovo says it won't continue sale in the usa.
